About Dunfermline City

Dunfermline City Hockey Club is a social and charitable organization that promotes affordable hockey in the city of Dunfermline. Currently, we only have one team, which is an adult men's team that plays in East League Division 3. If you are a male aged 14 or above and are interested in playing hockey, please contact us as we are always looking for new players. City 2s fight back against Falkirk to claim a share of the spoils

Dunfermline city 2s v Falkirk 4s

City twos took on Falkirk 4’s on Saturday at Bathgate Acadamy.

City were without club president  Alan Green for the first time this season,  going into a tough away fixture against a good Falkirk side.

His place at sweeper was filled by Allan Griffiths who was to play a major part in the game.  The rest of the team was as follows. Athol in goals, Defence of Robbie Swinton ,Allan Griffiths , Kenny and Ben Buttercase.

Midfield was Jordan Barid at the right, Creag Campbell and Colin Cunnife in the centre with Ben MacCalister playing wide left. Dave Sutton and Graeme Johnstone played upfront. Dave tanton and Luke Palmer started on the bench.

City went down 1-0 to a good move from the Falkirk side with a pacey ball in from wide and the striker pulling back a getting a solid touch to put it in the goals.

City went 2 goals down when a short comer wasn’t defended at the post.

This looked like City were on a hiding to nothing at this stage with Falkirk looking to put the game beyond doubt.

However City pulled a goal back before the half with a well hit short corner from Allan Griffiths.

The second half started with City defending deep but they fought hard to ensure Falkirk could not increase their lead.

It wasn’t all one way traffic though and City drew level when a ball played through the centre was put into the back of the net  in emphatic style by Dave Tanton.

At 2-2 city started believing a win could be theirs and kept pressing to try and get that winning goal.

At the end it was not be but the draw has to be seen as a positive result against a good side.

Watsonians next week which will be tough but city are ready to give it our best shot.
