Stirling ones defeat a mixed City side

23 Feb 2013

City lost 5.1 away to Stirling today – in a very tough game.  Without a lot of regular players City were always going to be up against it against Stirling 2′s – but the team they were playing consisted of ones and twos which made the match even more tougher.

Saying that although Stirling were on top most of the first half – City were unfortunate to find themselves 3.1 behind.  Then the second half was mostly City – but just the lack of luck in front of Goal and an inspired keeper kept City at bay.
Youngsters Robbie Swinton, Ben McAllister, Jordan Baird and Elliot Sutton all did well in the game – as did keeper Athol “Fonzerelli” Murray who played at right back.  5.1 flattered the Uni – but at the end of the day its how many chances you put away that matters and Striling were the more clinical.
First defeat of the season – but some of the play from the inexperienced lads shows City is a club heading in the right direction. Stirling defeated Fidra yesterday so the league title still anyone’s - and still in our own hands.

Well done to the guys that played today – no matter what team we put out – it was always going to prove to be a tough encounter – the fight was there – the chances were there – we just didn’t convert..
