Dunfermline city 2s Vs Inverleith development

City welcomed Gerraint jones to the team for for the long awaited first game back from the winter break.

City chasing first league win went into game with a strong 13 man squad.

The team started off with Athol Murray in goals, Robbie Swinton at right back, Alan Green and Niel Fleming pairing up for the central defensive roles and Kenny took his place in left back. Jordan Baird kept his place at right midfield, Dave Sutton and Gerraint Jones took control in the centre and speedy Ben Mcallister started at left midfield.

The starting forward pairing was Elliot Sutton and Alan Griffiths. Striker Graeme Johnstone and Sean Byron started on the bench.

City started off by holding pressure on the Inverleith defence and some swift attacking moves came close to creating an opener.

Giving away possession in a dangerous area led to city going one goal down early.

City defense had to hold strong for a large part of the 1st half. As half time loomed close city pressed and our effort were rewarded when Allan Griffiths turned to slot the ball into the bottom corner.

City started off the 2nd half at a good pace putting the ball into the right areas but letting too many chances pass us by.

Inverleith got there 2nd goal from a very tight angle.

The next goal lost was an unfortunate with a ball deflection from Al Greens stick into the goal.

Although creating more of the chances we were not taking them unlike our opposition who went 4-1 up slotting in at backpost.

Good efforts from the team and 4-1 probably flattered Inverleith although it would be fair to say they were good for their win.

MVP was a close call between Jordan Baird and Ben McAlister with Ben just edging it.
