Sat 10th March – City 2s lose narrowly to Eskvale

10 Mar 2012

Dunfermline City 2s visited Eskvale with high expectations. .

With a young and experienced team – City carved out plenty of openings – but unfortunately never really tested the opposition keeper.   One slack moment at the back cost city the one goal – but with the chances city had they should have overcome this – with Miller, Shipley and Edwards failing to take advantage of opportunities.

City won a penalty stroke late on in the game – as a Shipley pile driver was kicked off the line.  Calmly ex Mr City Edwards stepped up to the mark and looked composed as he placed the ball on the spot, the City players strolled over the halfway line with confidence in Edwards.  We all watched in horror as the keeper made a tremendous save from Gareths piledriver of a flick which trickled along the ground.  City were denied a deserved equaliser and Gareth was inconsoleable – however after the game we all went back to the Pub for a pint or two and all was forgotten.
