Match Report - 01 Feb 2020, Dunfermline City Hockey Club Dunfermline City First Team beat Stirling Wanderers 2

SANTS IS BACK - City had a squad of 15 to take on Stirling Wanderers.

Wanderers started on the front foot but never really created much in the D - which was well marshalled by Whitsed.

City looked more likely to score - Al Green had a shot saved which then fell to Miller who didnt quite connect properly and the keeper made another save. Al Green was then unlucky again with another first time shot which the keeper blocked.

Half time was 0.0 with not much between the teams in the first half.

Second half however the gap started to show as City started to Dominate.

Al Green had another opportunity blocked - then Miller missed the chance of the game slashing wildly at the ball in the d and slicing it wide.

Edwards came close with a short corner that hit the post - and then he had one that took a slight deflection that went just past the back post.

Rintoul should have scored from a short when his one two with Edwards left him a tap in which he scewed wide.

Al Santi making his early return following his hip op got the only goal of the game - Rintoul played a well hit ball into the D which Sants deflected past the keeper - 1.0 City.

City held on quite easily - there was a niggle between Rintoul and a Stirling player that could have resulted in cards but the umpire calmed things down.

City saw down the clock in the left hand corner of the pitch shortly before the full time whistle.

Good performance - should have been 4 or 5 goals - but 3 points in the bag. Excellent performances from Whitsed, Buttercase, Maxl and Edwards. City just needed to be just a bit more clinical in front of goal.

Next up Falkirk at home 10.30 again Woodmill
