City Comeback

24 Sep 2016

City v Falkirk.

After tournaments, friendlies and away days the real battle for points commenced against Falkirk in City's first league match at Woodmill.

Under new leadership, with a method to our play of building through the back and midfield hopes were high of a successful league season.

Falkirk burst illusions through the first half by scoring two scrappy goals really against the run  of play with City controlling most of the first half. The stand out contributions in that half was the left side through Karl and Ben which caused Falkirk all game. City made half chances and missed short corners and this was continued into the second half.

Half time and 2-0 down,  somehow, but gone was the long crash ball and City tried to play hockey and were successful outside of the scoreboard.

Second half, another short corner, Kinnear smashes the ball into the back of the net, no goal, too high - above backboard height, no complaints umpire Mike. Soon after Kinnear forces the ball home legally this time and the legend Mr City smashes home a short corner, very skilfully hitting the ball into the ground and over the prone keeper and into the back of the net. 2-2 and game on.

City pressed, Falkirk defended, the Alamo was reenacted but City could not find a winning goal.

A disappointing start, not through lack of effort, but not taking advantage of countless short corners and other chances. Plus points, City were the better team, tried to play hockey and have to persevere with this. Where was FFS? Stand outs, Karl and Ben.
