City v Carnegie 3rds

After two weeks of facing much higher opposition, City faced the Carnegie team from the league below in another pre season friendly on Saturday.

Another changed line up with just one sub this week meant personnel changes but was another chance to put the new diamond formation into practice and learn when mistakes are less costly than league games.

An even first 15 mins of play saw each team score once, Kinnear scoring for City and a short corner conversion equalising for Negie. Thereafter City took complete control of the game, scoring three times before half time with Kinnear completing his first City hat trick. City passed the ball with purpose, keeping possession well and in particular one attack started with Rintoul in defence, came through midfield to Kinnear up front to round the keeper to score. Donald's other goal was due to very sharp reactions in redirecting a defensive clearance into the net.

In the second half City did not play as well as the latter half of the first half but still managed to score another three through Rintoul, 2, and Luff. Brandon had some very good saves as Negie never gave up, their experienced players backed up some talented youngsters in what was a competitive game played in excellent spirit by all players.

On to the Club Tournament this Sunday, more chances to put the diamond into practice and earn a few quid for an excellent charity.

Remember training guys and keep up your planking!
