Match Report - 15 Sep 2018, Dunfermline City Hockey Club Dunfermline City First Team beat Carnegie

City faced in a friendly on Saturday Carnegie 4’s on Saturday.

City had a stronger line up than they had the previous week when the fell short in the Kevin Walker Community Shield with Rintoul, Miller, Maxl and others returning to the fray.

City pressed from the start and dominated maybe not possession but chances. Miller failed to convert a 1 on 1 – blasting wide while others missed other opportunities.

Rintoul fired his first of the day from a short corner – the old move it right to Edwards and back to Rintoul routine worked a treat as he forced the ball home.

In a rare advancement into the City D Alan Aitken scored a cracking equaliser from the right edge of the D – before a goal mouth scramble then followed shortly before half time in the Carnegie D which ended with City being awarded a much disputed penalty. Rintoul converted. Half time 2.1 to City.
In the second half City again had more of the chances and eventually Allan Green converted from an Edwards pass not long after missing a similar chance when Miller passed to him but on the first occasion his shot was well blocked. 3.1 City.

Alan Jones then scored a great goal for Carnegie as City were caught napping.
Rintoul then restored the two goal lead with another finish from a short corner which took a deflection on the way in.

MOM Rintoul for his hattrick - but there were a number of excellent performers.

This was a good warm up match for the season ahead. Carnegie had some pretty play – and some good possession but failed to convert this into real opportunities. City on the other hand had plenty opportunities but found the Carnegie keeper in particular in fine form – he made a few crucial saves.
That’s the end of the pre-season warm up – next up for City a home game against Falkirk 3’s in the league.
