Match Report - 29 Sep 2018, Dunfermline City Hockey Club Dunfermline City First Team lost to Peebles

CIty visited Peebles where City secured the title last season with a battling 3.2 win.

CIty had only 11 for this game - but a stronger 11 that made the trip last season.

Unfotunately this wasnt to be a repeat result for CIty. In the opening stages when City had 10 men - still awaiting the arrival of Mr City - Gareth Edwards we were on top and looked to dominate.

When Mr City did make it on the pitch he almost put City one up with his first touch as Whitsed played the ball to Miller whose cross to Edwards at the back post was just to quick and pushed past the post by Edwards.

City then lost a couple of soft weak goals. At half time again we were 3.0 down.

Into the second half things improved as Rintoul struck home two short corners to make it 3.2. Miller then had a golden opportunity to make it 3.3 but the keeper pulled off a save.

CIty as they had all game through players forwards in numbers - which was costing us goals and not the momentum switched back to us conceding as Peebles scored another 4 goals to win easily 7.2.

Not a good day at the office - Peebles were up for it and took their chances well - we showed a lack of respect for the opposition - throwing players forwards - and not getting back to help defend which left our back line exposed.

Next up a home match V ed uni.
