Dunfermline City continued their build up for the new hockey season with a friendly against Stirling Wanderers. City were in good form having beat the same opposition 0-2 last week away from home, however, this time we came up against a much stronger Stirling side.
City playing a new style formation started the game well with several good chances to take the lead however were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.
Stirling were to take advantage of this and despite some good saves from the City keeper found themselves 2 goals up. City fought back and managed to pull a goal back from Alan Green (scoring his 2nd goal in 2 games since joining City from Carnegie).
Into the 2nd half and City started to adapt to their new formation; and playing nice hockey found themselves scoring 2 quick goals from Neil Innes (another new member joining from local club Carnegie) and Brent Walker.
Into the last 10 minutes and with the legs, tiring Stirling sealed the win with 2 further goals to see the final score 3-5.
A good performance from City who look to gain revenge this coming Saturday with a return match in Stirling.
City have now entered a 2nd team into the East District league. There have been several new additions to the club already, but we are still currently looking for more players to join. If anyone is interested in joining please email: iwanttoplay@dunfermlinecityhc.com
